Social Monster is an activities and events social club.
Social Monster allows members to interact on a more casual basis by scheduling a monthly calendar of events including: social parties, dinner parties, sporting events, volunteer work, travel, museums, movie nights, theater outings. Members really get to know other members through these casual but professionally managed group events. Paid members can sign up for members only events or come out to monthly open events available to everyone. When members see an event they think might be of interest to friends, they can invite them directly from the site and links will be sent to their friends to rsvp for that event.
How did we start? In 2000, local social event managers in Chicago and Denver found that they were thinking along the same lines – why not put together an activities and events club for people who wanted to meet other like minded singles? They took a look around in their markets and found the few existing services were extremely overpriced programs that required unnecessary screening interviews that were really nothing more than hard sell sessions.
That year, Social Monster was founded with a philosophy of providing a welcoming environment, an affordable program and a goal to offer a wide assortment of fun things to do and see.
Today, Social Monster has chapters in 8 US cities and is growing each year. Because we are a membership club, Social Monster offers members a Social Events Calendar that they know will be attended by people who are also interested in making new friends, developing new hobbies and having a whole lot of fun.
There have been many, many members who have met through Social Monster and dated. However, Social Monster is not a dating service and we have always had a number of members who are just looking to meet new friends for myriad reasons: new to the city, job is too busy to plan social life, widowed/divorced, extended travel to the city for work during the week, wake up one day to realize all their friends are married and have moved to the suburbs…Whatever your personal situation, Social Monster provides you with the activities you will enjoy attending and the quality people you are looking for to meet to form lasting relationships.
