Social Monster is an activities and social club and an alternative to dating
services for urban professionals.
Online dating services can only offer snippets of a person with selected pictures
and sometimes imaginative profiles while also putting most of the
onus on individuals to meet blindly. Social Monster allows members
to interact on a more casual basis by using social events like
social parties,
dinner parties,
sporting events,
volunteer work,
travel,
museums,
movie nights,
theater outings and really get to know other
members through managed group events.
How did we start? In 2000, local social event managers in Chicago and Denver
found that they were thinking along the same lines – why not put
together an activities and events club for people who wanted to meet
other like minded singles? They took a look around in their markets
and found the few existing services were extremely overpriced
programs that required screening interviews that were really nothing
more than hard sell sessions.
That year, Social Monster was founded with a philosophy of providing a
welcoming environment, an affordable program and a goal to offer a
wide assortment of fun things to do and see.
Today, Social Monster has chapters in 8 US cities and is growing each year.
Because we are a membership club, Social Monster offers members a
Social Events Calendar that they know will be attended by people who are
also interested in making new friends, developing new hobbies and
having a whole lot of fun.
There have been many, many members who have met through Social Monster and dated.
However, Social Monster is not a dating service and we have always
had a number of members who are just looking to meet new friends for
myriad reasons: new to the city, job is too busy to plan social
life, widowed/divorced, extended travel to the city for work during
the week, wake up one day to realize all their friends are married
and have moved to the suburbs…Whatever your personal situation,
Social Monster provides you with the activities you will enjoy
attending and the quality people you are looking for to meet to form
lasting relationships.
