1 Why are people joining Social Monster?

Our members are joining for various reasons. With the wide range of interesting events we offer, Social Monster presents a great opportunity to meet other individuals with similar interests. Many of our members find their friends are married with children or have moved out of town. Some of our members are new to town and want to take advantage of all there is to do. Whatever your reason, Social Monster is a perfect opportunity to meet people, no strings attached, in a laid-back atmosphere.
Because Social Monster is affiliated with Sports Monster and Matching Monster, many people take advantage of the complementary cross membership from and to those groups. This cross membership helps to increase overall participation in members-only events.
2 Is Social Monster a dating service?

No, Social Monster is not a dating service. We do asked pointed questions to learn more about who you are and what interests you have. However, we do not try to play matchmaker. Social Monster is a unique opportunity to meet people with similar interests. As many of our members are single, there are dating opportunities, but Social Monster is also a great way to increase your circle of friends. Social Monster plans and runs the events, but we leave the chemistry to you.

3 Do I have to come in for an interview?

If you want to, sure! We can meet you in person or chat over the phone but it’s not necessary from our standpoint. We value your busy schedule and want you to be able to get involved with Social Monster as quickly as possible. That’s why you can join right now on-line. We do have a thorough questionnaire to get to know you better. Plus, a manager will give you a call once we receive your registration and answer any questions you have.
You should be wary of any group or organization that requires an in-person interview because that can quickly turn into a hard-sell on you and make you feel very uncomfortable. Social Monster is all about having fun. Our members join because they want to, not because they were pressured. Isn’t that what you are looking for?
4 What is the average age or age range of Social Monster Members?

Although we require our Social Monster Members to be 21 or older, we do not have age restrictions. However, most of our members range between the ages of 25 and 45. Our median age is about 35.
5 What is the male to female ratio?

The male to female ratio is constantly changing as new members
join Social Monster. Keep in mind that every city is unique.
Most of the time, you’ll find the ratio to be close to 50/50.

7 Those dating and adventures services can be so expensive. Does Social
Monster charge really high fees?

No. You will find Social Monster to be very affordable when comparing us with other dating or “adventures” groups. We’ve worked hard to give our members the best services possible at the lowest cost. Social Monster offers two affordable ways to join the club. Members may opt to join monthly for $5.95 or annually for $49.95.
You should also be wary of any group or organization that does not provide you with pricing either on their website or over the phone. What are they trying to hide from you? Are they hiding very high prices perhaps? Social Monster has been designed to be the most affordable type of its program in the country.
Members have asked us how we can afford to offer annual membership at such a low price compared to the hundreds or even thousands (!) of dollars other groups charge for a similar service. The answer is that, in addition to being almost 100% internet based for communications and program promotion, Social Monster shares our overhead with two sister divisions: Sports Monster and Matching Monster which keep prices down for all three groups.
8 What do membership fees cover?

Your membership fees cover all monthly planning, administration and communication. Not only do we offer a variety of events but we also find great deals for our members. Through sponsors and group discounts, we are able to frequently offer our members lower prices on tickets, drinks and more.
9 Is there a monthly activities fee?

No. Unlike many other similar groups, your monthly or annual membership fee is ALL that you will pay, excluding the cost of events.
The Lifetime Membership is a flat fee and there are no monthly activity fees – something to think
about if you are planning to be in the area for a few years.
10 Who are the event managers at the events?

Many times, the event managers at each of our events are members just like you who have enjoyed the club so much that they have wanted to get involved further. If you would like to be an event manager, please contact your local Social Monster office.
11 How many events can I sign up for each month?

As many as you’d like! Each month, you will have a new calendar of options available on-line. Every member is welcome to sign up for as many events as they would like. There is no limit.
12 Would I be able to attend an event before I join?

Yes. Social Monster usually organizes one Open Social Event each month that is open to the public. Open Social Events are a great way for you and your friends to come out for a good time. Information on the next Open Social Event is available on our calendar or send us an e-mail or call for more details.
Please keep in mind that these events are usually on a larger scale and are sometimes not the best way to come out on your own to meet people. Our members-only events are usually smaller and provide great opportunities to mix and mingle.
13 If I call or e-mail you and decide not to join Social Monster, will I be stalked relentlessly by annoying solicitors or “membership managers?”

Absolutely not! We’ve experienced first hand what some other advertised groups do to people who call up for information. We don’t hassle people with badgering phone calls or constant e-mails. Who needs that? We do run a great program and would love to have you as part of our organization. However, if it’s just not the right timing or if it’s not what you’re looking for, we’ll respect your decision and will honor it by leaving you alone. Plus, when you do sign up, we don’t sell out mailing lists, so you won’t be bothered from outsiders either!

phone or by mailing or faxing us your registration. If you would

15 Can I bring friends to an event?

Social Monster welcomes guests. We ask that you always call to reserve a spot for your guest prior to the engagement as some events have limited space available. We do charge an extra fee (varies by event type) for each event your guest attends. Every month we offer one to two events open to persons interested in Social Monster and there is not extra fee for these events.
16 What happens if an event I sign up for is closed or sells out?

If any event sells out or is closed and you have sent in your registration, Social Monster will issue a full refund for any payments made. Although unlikely, should this happen to you on three occasions out of a minimum of six events that you registered for in any one month, Social Monster will extend your membership for one month free!
17 Is it strange to show up to an event alone?

Absolutely not! It’s natural to feel nervous for your first events, everyone does. There is no need to worry! Social Monster likes to combine big social events and more intimate conversational events on our monthly calendars. Both are great ways to meet new people! New arrivals are quickly welcomed to the party! Every month, we hold a special Ice-Breaker Mixer, which is a perfect opportunity to meet our new members.
